Aside from some related software, it's actually everything that separates XPS from Precision. The latest revision of this clever bridge from the consumer and professional sectors - the Precision 5520 - makes minor changes to the design or connection.

Precision 5520 retains the 5510's very narrow bezels (referred to by Dell as the Infinity Edge display) to effectively fit a 15.6-inch touchscreen into the body of a typical 14-inch laptop. It weighs 2,1 kg and is more than 500 grams lighter than even the ThinkPad P50.

Compared to Core processors, the Core i7-7th also supports ECC-RAM (error correction). In addition to four cores including 3-4 GHz Hyper-Threading support (4 cores up to 3.6 GHz, 2 cores up to 3.8 GHz), the processor has also equipped with a professional HD Graphics P630 GPU as well as a dual-channel memory. Controller (DDR3L-1600 / DDR4-2400). This product is made in a 14-nanometer process with FinFET transistors.

Dell Precision 5520 Connections

The 5520 connects wirelessly to the Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 8265 with a 2x2 antenna, which is slightly better than the 8260 5510. This adapter includes Bluetooth 4.2 (vs. 4.0 for 5510). At the same time, Ethernet connections are facilitated using USB Type-C to the included Ethernet adapter. Although the adapter was relatively warm during our use, it performed very well and provided good transmission speed.

The 28-nanometer Nvidia Quadro M1200 is a mid-range graphics card DirectX 12 (FL 11_0 and OpenGL 4.5) compatible with OpenGL for workstations. It is a Maxwell-based GPU (first generation) based on the GM107 chip with 640 shadow cores.

The Precision 5520 comes with optional security features such as integrated TPM, vPro management technology, and a standard set of (free) office software readily available through the Dell Support website. Dell’s Precision workstations also include the Dell Precision Optimizer software package, which rebalances system resources to optimize configurations for using specific applications (such as AutoCAD, video editing software, etc.). There are a number of other optional tools for downloading from the Dell Support site, including Dell Update (for driver / BIOS updates) and Dell Command Power Manager (which provides more particle control over power profiles and charging conditions).
